Normally I would shy away from the no-mans land that is the intersection of Tillary and Flatbush, but after discovering the Loading Dock in downtown Brooklyn (almost at the base of the entrance to the Manhattan bridge) it is now constantly on my radar.
Part Art Gallery/Part Restaurant, the Loading Dock brings “baja-style” tacos to the East Coast with simple, flavorful ingredients set in a very auspicious environment. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff is extremely friendly.
The highlights of the menu? Don’t miss out on the fish tacos (fried or grilled mahi mahi), the carnitas tacos, and the carnitas burrito. If they have guacamole available, make sure to grab a bowl accompanied by their crispy tortilla chips (and don’t forget the salsa- they make three varieties in house!).
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner- you can get your Loading Dock fix by dining in, picking up or getting your food delivered (as long as it’s in the delivery zone). The only drawback of this place is their lack of a liquor/beer license. The first time I went there I called and asked if I could bring my own beer (they had no objections) but the second time, there are numerous signs stating that you absolutely cannot bring alcohol in (apparently the building is not zoned for commercial use?).
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of summer, as the Loading Dock men (Owen and Forrest) will move their operations outside and serve food in a small courtyard.

Don’t forget to mention the carne asada… Anyone who likes this option should definitely give it a try!
