Normally I avoid St Marks Place at all costs (at 26 years old I feel extremely old being surrounded by drunken NYU coeds, am scared I will be crushed by the throngs of people overpopulating the streets, and generally hate the smell of day old puke and tattoo parlors) but my friend Lily had been talking about this Japanese restaurant called Kenka that had lines out the door, a colorful menu, and cheap beer. Immediately upon hearing her exclaim “They have Bulls Penis,” I decided that as a good friend, it was my duty to not only lend my support in her decision to attempt to swallow, but also to dive right in there with her!
Did we devour the delicacy? After literally biting off more than we could chew, Lily took it down like a champ while I tried to do everything I could not to throw up everywhere. In the end, we both ate the penis and walked away unharmed, although our stomachs did not feel right for a few days. Worth the gagging and mental pain? NO! Worth the adventure and bragging rights to say you have eaten Bulls Penis? YES!
